You can add groomable splines to polygon surfaces then shape, move, and scale them using brush-based Grooming tools.
NoteGroomable splines do not follow an animated or deforming mesh. Shape and position groomable splines on the static pose/version
of the polygon mesh that the Description is bound. The default spline versions of groomable splines follow animated or deformed
meshes.
To add groomable splines to the surface of selected geometry
- In the Create XGen Description window, set to .
All other options in the are automatically set.
- Click .
XGen creates a new and adds groomable splines to the selected surface.
- In the XGen Window, click the Grooming and select a brush to groom the splines.
To Increase or decrease the radius of the brush tool, press the B key while dragging.
- When you are satisfied with your groom, under , turn off .
- In the XGen window tool bar, click to view the renderable default spline versions of your groom.
Groomable splines do not render.
- Click the Primitives tab to make further changes to the default splines.
- Repeat steps 6 through 8 to create the desired effect.
Grooming tips
- Before increasing the Density of the groomable splines, set Sampling to Nearest. Otherwise, the groom resets and your previous brush strokes are erased. See Linear.
- If you want to place splines only on the areas that you paint, click the icon to select the brush, set the to 1, and to 0. Groomable splines only appear in the areas painted by the brush
- If the groomable spline Density is set to a high value, turning off Update Preview Automatically improves brush interactivity.
