Controlling a Texture with Unwrap
UVWA single bitmap can contain multiple textures for various parts of an object. You use the Unwrap UVW modifier to control the placement of the textures.
In this tutorial, you use a version of the P-47 aircraft model you created in Modeling an Airplane, and use Unwrap UVW to project a camouflage texture onto its wings, fuselage, tail, and other parts.
