Create a cinematic shot (one keyframe)

  1. Position the camera to the view you want to capture.

    (Hold down the Alt key and use the mouse buttons.)

  2. Select Story > Create Shot > Cinematic Orbit.

    A new motion shot is created, using default motion and timing.

    The Shots properties window is opened.

  3. In the window, change the Motion type setting to Cinematic (one keyframe plus path).

    The new shot appears in the Shots interface and is highlighted.

  4. Change the settings under Camera motion to adjust the shot behavior. (See descriptions at the end of this procedure.)
  5. Adjust the behavior for how the shot transitions in. See Add transitions into and out of shots.
  6. In the Name box, type in a name for the shot. See Organize the shots.
  7. If you want to associate a hotkey combination to this shot, select it from the Key pull-down menu.
  8. Click Preview to see the results.

Shot options (one keyframe)

Motion type

To set up a shot where the camera moves along a predefined path relative to a single keyframe, set this menu at Cinematic (one keyframe plus path). For information on other types of shots, see What are shots?.

Camera motion settings (keyframe location)

Start here—adds a motion path after the keyframe.

Half-way point—adds motion paths after and before the keyframe.

End here—ends the motion path at the keyframe.

Camera motion settings (motion path)

Zoom in, zoom out—Zooms in on/out from the keyframe.

Track left, Track right—Tracks away from the keyframe (left or right).

Crane up/left, Crane up/right—Tracks up and away from the keyframe (left or right).

Orbit—Rotates around the keyframe while optionally moving up or down. See Create and set up an orbit (cinematic) shot.

Slower/Faster

Use this slider to set the speed of the camera motion. The faster the motion, the further the camera will travel in a given duration.

Reset End

Allows you to change the camera position for the keyframe. Press Alt and use the mouse buttons to move to the new camera position, then press this button.

Duration

Sets the overall amount of time taken by the shot. Depending on the transition time you give into the first keyframe, this value will make the rest of the motion faster or slower.

Lock camera on center-of-interest

Keeps the camera locked on the center of interest as the camera tracks or cranes away. This cannot be deselected when doing orbit shots (see Create and set up an orbit (cinematic) shot).

Save depth of field, bloom, and compensation values with this shot
Bloom, compensation, and depth-of-field (Showcase Professional only) are saved with Shots. However, you can choose whether or not you want them to affect the playback of a given shot by selecting or deselecting this option.
Loop

When this box is checked, the shot will play over and over again when you click on it.
