Clumping

Use the Clumping modifier to clump splines toward the guide positions. See Create clumping maps.

NoteAll Clumping modifiers must higher in the list than other modifiers. XGen restricts you from moving other XGen modifiers above Clumping modifiers. One exception to this is that the Groom Bake modifier can be placed anywhere in the list.
Mask

Controls the strength of the modifiers effect on the primitives. You can use Mask to load a map that specifies how areas of the mesh surface are affected by the modifier.

Clump Effect

Clump

Sets the amount of the clumping effect applied to the spline primitives.

Clump Scale

Lets you scale the magnitude of the Clump effect along the spline length at specified points, starting at the spline root (left end of the curve, indicated with an R) to its tip (right side of the curve, indicated by a T).

Clump Volumize

Sets the amount the clump primitives volumize prior to clumping.

Clump Volumize creates volume in the clump so they can resist compression. Use this on small clumps.

Clump Variance

Lets you vary the clumping effect on a per-primitive basis. Negative Clump Variance values decrease the effect, while positive increase it.

Copy Effect

Copy

Sets the blending of the clumping effect between neighboring clumps.

Copy Scale

The amount to scale the copy by at each point along the curve.

Copy Variance

Lets you vary the Copy on a per-primitive basis. Negative Copy Variance values decrease the effect, while positive values increase it.

Cut Effect

Cut

Sets the amount that each primitive in a clump is cut.

The Cut value is based on the length of the primitive. A value of 0.1 cuts the primitives by 10 percent of their length. This value can also be based on an expression.

Noise Effect

Noise

Sets the amount of noise effect added to each clump.

Noise Scale

Lets you scale the amount of noise effect applied at each point along the curve.

Noise Frequency

Sets the frequency of noise per clump.

Noise Correlation

Set the percentage of how much each clump's noise should correlate to its neighboring clumps.

Frame Offset

Frame

A per-clump value used to orient the following effects.

Flatness Effect

Flatness

Sets the amount to flatten clumps.

Flatness Scale

Lets you scale the amount of Flatness applied at each point along the curve.

Offset Effect

Offset

Sets offset distance between a clump and its clump guide, which allows space for the Curl Effect to produce coils and spirals.

Offset Scale

Lets you scale the amount of Offset applied at each point along the curve.

Curl Effect

Curl

Sets the number of curls per-clump.

Curl Scale

The amount to scale the number of curls by at each point along the curve per clump. Lets you scale the amount of Flatness applied at each point along the curve.

Color Preview

Displays the colors of the clump maps in the primitive to let you see which hairs belong to which clump.

Cv Attr

Use this option to flag CV attributes you have specified to use on the clump

Setup Maps
Opens the Generate Clumping Maps window, which lets you create a clumping map using the Clumping Modifier settings.
Preview Guides
Lets you preview the clumping guides.
Export Guides
Open the Export Clump Guide window, which lets you export the clump guides as Maya curves.
