Create and open an Autodesk Showcase scene

Create a new scene

  1. Select File > New Scene.

You now have a blank Autodesk Showcase scene to work in. This empty scene contains only one environment, and no model geometry. To start setting up the scene, see:

    Import models into your scene

    Set the scene environment

Scene information is stored in an A3S file that contains pointers to model files (APF files), image files, and other assets. There is also a companion directory that keeps referenced files in one place, for easy copying or moving. For details, see:

Copy a scene to an off-network location

  2. Remember to save the scene often. See:

    Save your scene

Open a scene

  1. Select File > Open Scene.
  2. Browse to and select an A3S scene file that was previously saved.

Open a recent scene

  1. Select File > Recent Scenes.
  2. From the sub-menu, select an A3S or ZIP scene file that was recently saved to replace the currently open scene.
NoteThe Recent Scenes list only contains the last 6 scenes that this Showcase user has saved. In some cases, recent files may have been edited by others, deleted or moved from the last location that Showcase recorded for this menu.
