Transferring Clip Libraries
to 2009 Extension 1 Projects
To access clip libraries
from version 2007, 2008, or 2009 projects, you must transfer the
clip libraries to a project created in version 2009 Extension 1.
You can install version
2009 Extension 1 on the 2007, 2008, or 2009 system and use Wire
to transfer the clip libraries from 2007, 2008, or 2009 projects
to a version 2009 Extension 1 project. See
Copying Local and Remote Clip Libraries to Your Current Project.
For a Linux system running
a 2007, 2008, or 2009 release where you do not wish to install 2009
Extension 1, or for IRIX® systems,
you can also use the following procedure to transfer media from
2007, 2008, or 2009 to 2009 Extension 1.
To transfer clip libraries from version
2007, 2008, or 2009 projects to an 2009 Extension 1 project:
- Use Backdraft® Conform 2007 or any 2008 or 2009 application
to create a project and a clip library on the 2009 Extension 1 system.
See
Creating a Project.
The project and library is formatted for 2007, 2008, or 2009.
- Use the 2007, 2008, or 2009 application
to move clips from the 2007, 2008, or 2009 system over the network
into the previously created project on the 2009 Extension 1 system.
You can use Background Wire to help free up the resources of the
2007, 2008, or 2009 workstation. See
Copying Local and Remote Clip Libraries to Your Current Project.
- Create a new project on the version 2009
Extension 1 system. If you have many projects, use the upgrade project
script. See
Upgrading Projects to Version 2009 Extension 1.
- Use the 2009 Extension 1 application
to open the library created in step 1 (the library is read-only).
- Use Dual View to drag the clips into
the 2009 Extension 1 project and library.
- Use the 2007, 2008, or 2009 application
to remove the project created in step 1. 2009 Extension 1 applications
cannot remove projects created with previous versions because they
are read-only.
