Trimming a clip involves setting its in and out points so that only part of the original source contributes to the clip.
There are three ways to trim a clip, depending on which method you prefer to use:
- Interactively using the cursor
- Trim commands
- Clip commands
To trim ShotClips interactively
- Press Alt+click the middle of either edge of a ShotClip so that a white box appears, and then drag in either direction.
NoteOn Linux, Alt+click may not work if that combination is used by your window manager for another purpose. In these cases, you
can modify your window manager to use a different combination. For more information, see
Linux Systems and the Alt Key or consult the documentation for your window manager.
- To trim multiple ShotClips interactively, Shift or Ctrl+click them, press Alt, and then drag the edge of any clip.
NoteInteractive trimming enables you to increase the length of the ShotClip, unlike the usual trimming using the Trim and Clip
commands.
To trim ShotClips using the Trim Before and Trim After commands
- Select a ShotClip.
NotePress Shift or Ctrl to select multiple ShotClips.
- Move the playback cursor to where you want to trim the ShotClip.
- Do one of the following:

Choose (or press [ ) or Trim After (or press ]), from the Camera Sequencer Editor menu bar, to trim before or after the position
of the playback cursor, respectively.
or
- Right-click the ShotClip you want to trim and choose or .
The tail end gets clipped with Trim After, and the head gets trimmed with Trim Before.
To trim ShotClips using Clip In and Clip Out commands
- Move the playback cursor to where you want to trim.
- Select one or more ShotClips.
- Choose or , from the Camera Sequencer Editor menu bar, to set the In and Out points of a ShotClip before or after the position of the
playback cursor, respectively.
