Many aspects of cross-section manipulation are the same as for other objects, such as accent lights. You can modify using
transform handles and properties; see:
One difference from other object manipulation is that by default, you can only move a cross-section along the X, Y, or Z axis.
To move a cross-section in a non-axis direction, you must rotate it and its pivot to align with the axis along which you want
to move the cross-section. Do this as follows:
- Select the cross-section and turn on transform handles.
- Click a rotation handle and enter the number of degrees you want to rotate.
- Press Insert to show pivot handles.
- Click the pivot handle that corresponds to the rotation handle you clicked earlier. Enter the same number of degrees of rotation.
- Press Insert to show transform handles again and drag the cross-section along the axis it is aligned with.
To add or remove objects cut by the cross-section:
- Select the objects you want to add or remove from the cross-section.
- Right-click the cross-section icon in the Cross-Sections interface and select Properties.
- In the Properties window that opens, click Associated objects: Choose.
- Select Add Selection To or Remove Selection From.
Showcase includes some automatic cross-section placement options that you can use as follows:
- Right-click the cross-section icon in the Cross-Sections interface and select Properties.
- Click the Choose button beside Auto placement.
- Choose from the following options:
- : This rotates the cross-section to the nearest XYZ axis; in other words, flat, or directly upright along the Y or Z axis.
- Moves the cross-section to the center of the bounding box of the currently selected object or objects.
- : Rotates a plane cross-section 180 degrees. (Not available for corner cross-sections.) The side of the object that was previously
visible behind the cross-section becomes hidden, and vice versa.
Tip: To flip a corner cross-section, show its transform handles, click a scale handle, and enter -1.
