The following describes the properties for tools in the tray.
properties
-
-
When on, the model can only have one joint at a time for posing. Turn off if you want to create multiple joints.
Note
Be aware that if you turn this option on after creating multiple joints, all existing joints in the scene are deleted when
you next create a joint.
-
-
When on, the tool creates symmetrical pairs of joints based on the axis you specify. The axis options are the same as those for the sculpt or paint tools. See Mirror.
-
-
Lets you set where joints are placed on the mesh when you create the joint. Select to have joints positioned within the center of the volume, or select to have joints placed on the surface of the mesh.
-
-
Determines how initial weights are set as you create a joint. Select to set no initial weighting, or select from the following options:
-
-
Sets weights automatically based on the Weights vector you drag immediately after clicking to create the joint.
-
-
Sets weights based on the topology under your cursor as you click to create the joint. Mudbox determines the boundary of the
weighted region by finding an edge loop that includes the polygon face you click on.
-
-
Lets you paint weights for the joint immediately after clicking to create the joint.
tool properties
-
-
When on, Mudbox inverts the function of the tool, so any transformation you apply to a joint is inverted.
For example, click-dragging rotates all non-weighted components around the joint, instead of rotating weighted components.

Weights tool properties
Many of the options available for the Weights tool are the same as those available for the sculpt and paint tools. Refer to
the Sculpt Tool properties and Paint Tools properties. This section describes any options specific to the tool.
-
-
Click to normalize the weights on all vertices for the selected Skeleton. Weighting is normalized between joints with overlapping
influences by reducing all influences proportionally.
