The Key interpolation type menu lets you determine the default interpolation of the keyframes you set.

Key Controls display the key interpolation types

The following key interpolation types have been added in this release of the software product.

The Stepped key interpolation type is renamed Step in this release of the software product.

The following table describes the key interpolation types.

Option

Function

SmClamp

The SmClamp key interpolation type is the default key interpolation type. The tangents are smooth and the values are clamped to prevent overshooting maximum and minimum values.

Auto

The Auto key interpolation type is a cubic curve which you can modify using tangent handles or angle and weight settings. The tangents are automatically adjusted based upon the interpolation of the previous and next keys.

Spline

The Spline key interpolation type is a time-independent interpolation type. The tangents are not affected by a change in the time value. A Spline tangent is automatically calculated based upon the slope between the previous and next key values.

SpClamp

The SpClamp key interpolation type is a time-independent interpolation type with clamped values to prevent overshooting maximum and minimum values.

Linear

The Linear key interpolation type joins keyframes using straight lines, and a constant slope between keyframes.

Step

The Step key interpolation type maintains the same keyframe value between keyframes, with no slope between them.

TCB

The TCB key interpolation type joins keyframes using a Hermite-type curve, but the slope on either side of a tangent handle is changed using the TCB (Tension/Continuity/Bias) values.

Smooth

The Smooth key interpolation type is a time-dependent interpolation type. The tangents are smooth and affected by a change in the time value.

Fixed

The Fixed key interpolation type is not influenced by neighboring keyframes.
