By default, when launching MotionBuilder all windows are in a docked position, but you can rearrange the interface by docking
and undocking UI elements.
Docking and undocking
To undock a window
- Drag the double-dotted edge () of a window away from its current place and into the middle of the scene.
When you release the mouse button, the undocked window is left hovering on the interface.
To dock a window
- Drag the double-dotted edge () of a window around the UI. Any place where it can be docked automatically shifts to accommodate it as you drag the window
across it.
When you release the mouse button, the window locks into place.
Note
If UI elements do not immediately shift out of the way for you to dock a window, try moving the window to various places around
your attempted dock point. Dock widgets need to be released near the middle of a dockable area.
Docking behavior
The following are some general guidelines:
- The Viewer window is always docked.
- The Transport Controls window can only be docked directly under the Viewer.
- No tool can be docked above the Viewer.
- When called, locked windows will have a new floating window created. If the original is floating when called, the focus will
move to the floating window.
- Tabs within windows will float or re-dock as complete windows.
