Create Map window

Use the Create Map window to create PTEX maps, which you can use to control primitive, modifiers attributes, and masks as well as to create Regions Maps.

See Control primitives with PTEX maps and Create a PTEX map to control primitives.

Map Name

Sets the name of the folder that contains the PTEX file . PTEX file names are derived from the mesh object you are painting on.

See PTEX file names and folders.

Map Resolution

Sets the resolution of the PTEX map in texels per-face.

Texel is an abbreviation of the term 'texture element'. A texel is like a pixel, but is not limited to your flat computer screen. You can think of a texel as a single point of color on the surface of your mesh.

For higher resolution textures, use higher Map Resolution values.

Start Color
Sets the color or value assigned to the mesh surface before you paint.
Based on attribute

Assigns the mesh surface to the current value of the attribute you are controlling with the PTEX map. For example, if you create a map for Length set to 0.8, the mesh surface is assigned that value.

White, Black, Grey

Assigns the mesh surface white, black or grey , which equals a value of 1.0, 0.0, and 0.5 respectively.
