Control Wires

The Control Wires modifier lets you use selected curves to influence the behavior of generated guides. You can save the control wires to an Alembic file then click Attach Hair System on your reference pose. XGen calculates a surface binding point for each wire for evaluation.

Mask

Controls the strength of the modifier effect. You can use Mask to load a map that specifies how areas of the mesh surface are affected by the modifier.

Magnitude

Sets the amount of animation to apply to the primitive.

Magnitude Scale

Lets you scale the amount of animation applied effect along the spline length at specified points, starting at the spline root (left end of the curve, indicated with an R) to its tip (right side of the curve, indicated by a T).

Smoothness

Sets the amount of control each wire has on each primitive. When set to 0, the primitive is controlled by the nearest wire. Setting the Smoothness to higher values blends the control influence between other wires. The breakage attribute controls the falloff of the interpolation from the base to the tip.

Breakage

Controls the falloff of the interpolation by setting a falloff radius along the primitives from base to the tip.

When set to 0, the interpolation is applied smoothly from the base to the tip. Higher Breakage values increase the amount of influence at the tip, allowing the primitives to pull apart as the control wires separate.

Live Mode

Applies the Modifier effect directly to the primitive. Use this option if you want to edit the effect further.

Wire File

Specifies the Alembic .abc file that contains reference and animation wires.

Ref Wire Frame

Sets the first frame of the Control Wire animation. This value must match the start frame of the animation in the Alembic cache file.

For example, if the cached animation has a pre-roll that starts at -10 frames, the Ref Wires Frame must be set to -10.
