The following tools let you select components in your scene:
Pick/Marquee |
Lets you pick individual components or make rectangular marquee selections. |

Lets you paint a selection by dragging your mouse across a surface. |

Raycast/Marquee |
Lets you paint a selection or make a marquee selection. When you drag your cursor across a surface, Maya uses the Raycast tool. When you drag your cursor in the empty space surrounding the object, Maya uses the Marquee tool. |

Tweak/Marquee |
Lets you tweak a component or make a marquee selection. When you drag a component, Maya uses Tweak mode. When you drag your cursor in the empty space surrounding the object, Maya uses the Marquee tool. See Tweak mode. Holding ` temporarily activates tweak mode. Quickly pressing ` permanently activates tweak mode. |
To preview a loop/ring, select a component and move the cursor over an adjacent component along the same path while holding shift. See Loop and ring selection.
