Connect polygon components with the Modeling Toolkit

 
 
 

The Modeling Toolkit Connect tool lets you connect polygon components by inserting an edge between them.

To connect polygon components

  1. Select vertices, edges, and/or faces in your scene.
    TipSelecting a single edge automatically connects the entire ring path.
  2. In the Mesh Editing Tools section of the Modeling Toolkit, click Connect to activate the Connect tool.

    A dotted line appears across your selection, showing you a preview of the connection.

  3. (Optional) Add components to (-click) or subtract components from (-click) your selection.
  4. Press Enter.
    TipYou can also -click an empty area of your scene and select Complete Tool to complete the cut and exit the Connect tool.

    The connection is baked into your mesh.

To adjust the Connect Options

Before you bake the connection into your mesh, you can quickly adjust the Connect Options from the marking menu.

  1. Choose one of the following from the Connect tool marking menu ( + + ):
    • Select Segments and click-drag to increase or decrease the number of connected segments.
    • Select Slide and click-drag to slide the connected segments to one side of the mesh.
    • Select Pinch and click-drag the segments to opposite sides of the mesh.
