Creating a User
 
 
 

You can create a user on start-up from the Project Management menu or during a session from the Preferences menu. By default, a user's preferences directories are created in the directory /usr/discreet/user/editing/<user name>. However, you can override this default path and select a custom path. You can also copy preferences from an existing user to a new user.

To create and load a user:

  1. Do one of the following:

  2. In the Name field, type a name for the user.
  3. The user's default home directory appears in the Preferences Directory box. To set a custom directory path for your preferences directories, select <new> from the Preferences Directory box and then use the file browser to set the user's home directory.
  4. By default, the sharing mode for the new user is set to New Prefs. To copy the preferences of an existing user, select Copy From in the Sharing Mode box. Then select the user whose preferences you want to copy from the box that appears adjacent the Sharing Mode box.
  5. To create the user according to the current settings, click Create User.

    The user is created, and you are returned to the Project Management or Preferences menu.

    TipTo reset all user settings to their default values at any time, click Reset. To exit the Create User menu without creating a user, click Exit User.
  6. To load the user into the current work session, click Load from the Preferences menu.
