The following describes known limitations that are now fixed for paint and paint layers.
Difficulty painting models with hard edges
Paint is not applied properly on sharp-edged objects. For example, the edges of cubes. This has been fixed.
Painting meshes with long faces produces artifacts
When painting on models that have very narrow/thin faces or larger faces relative to the size of the brush tip can produce visible paint artifacts.
In these situations, increasing the value of the new Brush Sample Area preference increases the size of the sample area to determine the brush effect and aid in reducing the appearance of the artifacts. For example, a value of 1 doubles the area that is calculated.
The Paint section within the Preferences window doesn’t appear unless a paint layer exists in the scene. This section of the preferences now appears by default.
