There are four paint stroke operations available in the Paint tool.
| Operation | Description |

| Paint | Lets you paint on a selected layer's front or alpha—see Paint. |
| Reveal | Lets you use the contents of one or more layers as the paint source for a different layer—see Revealing Parts of an Image. |
| Clone | Lets you copy a region of a layer and paint it on a destination area—see Cloning a Region of an Image. |
| Erase | Lets you erase paint strokes—see Erasing Paint Strokes. |
