Character

Lets you select the current character from a list of HIK characters in the scene.

Retarget Input

Select the character to use as the animation source from a drop-down list of the characterized characters in your scene.

Create New Layer for Retarget Base

When on, Maya creates a new animation layer and adds the retargeted animation. By default, the layer is named <CharacterName>_RetargetBase.

Animation Layer

Select an animation layer where you want to add the retargeted animation.

Refresh

Click to refresh the Animation Layer drop-down lists, for example, after you add a new animation layer that does not yet display.

Create New Layer for Control Objects

When on, Maya creates a new animation layer and adds the Control Rig objects of the target character during retargeting. This setup is useful if you want to edit the animation on the target character immediately after you retarget.

By default, the layer is named <CharacterName>_ControlObjects.

Add Control Rig to Animation Layer

Select an existing animation layer where you want to add the Control Rig objects of the target character.

Apply Retargeting

Click to transfer animation from the source character (Retarget Input) to the target character.
