This option has been added to the FBX plug-ins, for Maya 2009 only. For more information on Maya Containers, see the Maya 2009 documentation.
If you activate Referenced containers content, the references within a container are preserved, and the content of these referenced files is not exported. If you disable this option, all references are converted to objects within the file during the export. They are no longer references, but become objects in the exported FBX file. This is the default behavior. See Referenced containers content
