Project a curve onto a point cloud

Use the Point Clouds > Project Curve tool to project a curve along a reference vector onto a point cloud.

Note

Before you can project a curve, you must create a reference vector to represent the projection direction. See Create or edit a reference vector.

  1. Pick the cloud.
  2. Choose Point Clouds > Project Curve.
  3. Click the reference vector for the projection direction.
    Tip

If you don’t click a reference vector, the tool will use the sight line of the current window.

  4. Click the curve to project.
  5. Do any of the following:
    • Adjust the curve’s fit to the cloud by typing a new fit tolerance.
    • Click another curve to project onto the same point cloud.

What if...?

I want a better fit between the projected curve and the point cloud?

These options are slower but can result in a better fit.
