Integration of Fusion with Alias

Autodesk Inventor Fusion is now available with the following packages:

Fusion does not require licensing, but requires a one time EULA acceptance the first time you launch it.

NoteFusion is only offered on the Windows platform (in both 32 and 64 bit), and requires the latest version of the .NET Framework to be installed (currently version 4).

Importing Alias data into Fusion

If you are looking to build a rapid prototype part from a set of surfaces in Alias, it may be easier to stitch and repair the surfaces in Fusion.

  1. In Alias (Design or Automotive), select the surfaces or shells that you want to export to Fusion.
  2. Choose File > Send Selected to Fusion. This menu item only appears if Fusion is installed.

The data is saved in a temporary wire file and Fusion launches.

  3. The first time Fusion launches, a EULA acceptance window opens. Click the I Accept box and choose a country from the lister to select your language, then click OK.

The wire file is opened into Fusion.

If Fusion is not installed or no data was selected in Alias, appropriate error messages are displayed.

  4. On the Fusion launch screen, choose Start using Autodesk Inventor Fusion, or just close the window.

In Fusion, objects are grouped by layer the way they are in Alias, but the DAG hierarchy is not maintained.
