Export a DWF file (Windows only)

You can export models for viewing in Autodesk Design Review and Project Freewheel.

For a free copy of Autodesk Design Review, go to:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=4086277&siteID=123112

Note

Textures and Sketch Projections are not supported in this release of Alias.

  • If your model has a texture with no color values applied to it, the default color for the texture will be exported to DWF.
  • If your model has a Sketch Projection shader applied to it, the shader will be transparent in DWF format. The surface will appear to be missing in Design Review. To remedy this, change the Sketch Projection shader before exporting.

To save a DWF file

  1. Choose File > Export > Active As .

    or

  2. File > Save As .
  3. From the File Formats menu, choose DWF.
  4. Set the options as desired, and click Save.

DWF Options

Export Curves

When ON, curves are exported.

Export Symmetry

If an Alias layer has symmetry ON, this information and the geometric objects resulting from the layer’s symmetry can be Merged and converted or left intact (Unmerged) and converted.

When Off is selected, layer symmetry is not exported.

Tesselation

Tessellator

Fast – Tessellates more quickly but less accurately.

Accurate – Tessellates models more accurately but more slowly.

Use existing tessellation – If the surface has already been tessellated, that tessellation is used, otherwise the tessellation settings from the Control Panel are used.

Tolerance

The value specifies the amount the polygonal surface can deviate from the original NURBS surface. The default value is 0.01.

Limit Edge Length

If checked, a Max edge length slider appears to control how large the triangles can get. If unchecked, there is no limit on the size of the triangles.

Max Edge Length

Specifies the maximum length of any triangle edge (in current linear units).
