Syflex Nail

This compound lets you fix a simulated cloth or curve's vertices to a constraining object so that no force can move them. As well, the constrained vertices don't follow the deformation of the constraining object. You can use almost any type of object as the constraining object, including polygon meshes, nulls, cluster centers, and NURBS surface objects.

To apply: See Nailing Cloth or Curve Vertices to an Object.

Tasks: Syflex/Constraints

Output Ports: The Force output plugs into the Force port on the Syflex Cloth or Syflex Curve node.

Distance

Distance (in Softimage units) between the cloth or curve 's vertices and the constraining object. When this value is:

  • Greater than 0, the vertices are constrained to the constraining object with a spring.

  • Equal to 0, the vertices of the cloth are fully constrained to the constraining object without a spring. This is faster to compute.

  • Less than 0, the springs have no compression force.

Stiff

Stiffness of the spring between the cloth or curve vertices and the constraining object.

Increase this value to keep the cloth or curve vertices at the same distance from the constraining object. If you do this, you should also increase the Damp value.

This parameter is available only if the Distance value is greater than 0.

Damp

The damp coefficient, which controls the intensity of the damping effect on the spring.

When the spring is very stiff, infinite oscillations (vibrations) may occur. These vibrations can be avoided by increasing this value.

This parameter is available only if the Distance value is greater than 0.

Point Cluster

The point cluster on the cloth or curve object that you want to nail. Plug its Get Data node's Out Name output into this port.

Object

The constraining object to which the cloth or curve vertices are nailed. This can be any type of object, including polygon meshes, nulls, cluster centers, and NURBS surface objects. Only the transformation properties of the constraining object are used, so you can use any object that can be transformed.

Plug its Get Data node's Out Name output into this port.
