Autodesk Inventor products offer a comprehensive, flexible set of software for 3D mechanical design, product simulation, tooling creation, and design communication. Inventor takes you beyond 3D to Digital Prototyping by enabling you to design, visualize, and simulate your products.

You can import Inventor files into Showcase in several ways:

• From the Open/Create Scene dialog box. (Autodesk recommends this method.)
• By selecting File > Import > Import Models.
• By dragging the file into Showcase.

Before using the first two methods, you should set your Inventor import settings in Showcase preferences (File > Preferences > User Preferences). When using the last method (from the Open/Create Scene dialog box), you are presented with the import settings before you select the Inventor file. In either case, the settings are as follows:

• Use Inventor project file: Specify this so that Showcase can find all related files for the Inventor file you want to use.
• Constraint name: Autodesk Inventor constraints are transformed as Showcase behaviors. Only a single constraint per Inventor file can be used to start a behavior. The chosen constraint must match the value here. If you do not specify a constraint, the first (alphabetical) compatible animation constraint will be used.
