Activating Version Control

To activate version control, you need to have the Visual SourceSafe software product, the Alienbrain software product, or both software products installed.

To activate version control:

1. Launch MotionBuilder.

   The Asset manager selection dialog box appears, enabling you to choose which asset manager to use in MotionBuilder.

   

   A. Option enabled by default

   NoteThe asset managers that are shown in the Asset manager selection dialog box are the version control software products installed on your system.
2. Click an option from the list of asset managers.

   If you select No asset manager, MotionBuilder does not use a file management system. Therefore, there is no Version Control menu available in the MotionBuilder menu bar.

   If you select Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, a simplified version of the Visual SourceSafe software product is used and if you select Alienbrain, the Alienbrain software product’s integrated features are used.

3. Disable the option “Do not ask unless the Shift key is down” if you want the Asset manager selection dialog box to appear every time you launch MotionBuilder.
