The Extrude tool lets you interactively create extrusions. There are two methods to extrude polygon components, depending on
whether you already have a selection in your scene before activating the Extrude tool.
To extrude components from a selection
- Open the . See Open the Modeling Toolkit.
- In the window, select a component selection mode. See Selection modes.
- In your scene, select the polygon component you want to extrude.
- In the section of the window, click to activate the Extrude tool.
Maya automatically extrudes the component using the settings in the .
- (Optional) Edit the extrusion by manually adjusting the , or do the following:
- Select the option you want to adjust from the Extrude tool marking menu (
+
+
).
- Click-drag in your scene to interactively increase or decrease the selected setting.
TipTo automatically perform a second extrusion using the current settings,

To extrude components without a selection
- Open the . See Open the Modeling Toolkit.
- In the section of the window, click to activate the Extrude tool.
- Use the preselection highlight to select the component you want to extrude. See Preselection highlighting.
- Click-drag in your scene to interactively increase or decrease the extrusion.
