Updating, adding, or deleting objects sent to 3ds Max

NoteThe following workflows apply to non-character assets. See Convert CAT to HumanIK for more information on sending HumanIK and CAT selections between Maya and 3ds Max.

To update an existing object

  1. In Maya, save the changes you made to the scene.
  2. Select the object(s) you want to update. If nothing is selected, previously sent objects will be updated.
NoteSingle objects within a hierarchy cannot be updated independently of the entire hierarchy.
  3. To update the object(s), click the Update button, or select File > Send to 3ds Max > Update Current Scene.

Your 3ds Max scene is now updated with the changes you made in Maya.

NoteThe Update Current Scene option only updates animation on existing hierarchies in 3ds Max. Any associated geometries, materials, or textures will not be updated.

To add objects

  1. In Maya, save the changes you made to the scene.
  2. Select the objects you added, then select File > Send to 3ds Max > Add to Current Scene.

To remove an object

  1. To remove objects that you no longer want in a scene, you must delete each object separately in both the Maya and 3ds Max scenes.
