You can send objects to Mudbox using the commands located in the menu. The objects that can be sent include a variety of data, such as meshes, UVs on meshes and materials associated with
meshes. You can then add paint or sculpt layers to an object in Mudbox and send it back to Maya using the commands located in the Mudbox menu.
NoteThe command will only appear in the Maya menu if you have the same versions of Maya and Mudbox installed.
To send objects from Maya to Mudbox, do the following:
- In Maya, select the object(s) you wish to send to Mudbox.
NoteYou can only send Polygon Primitives from Maya to Mudbox.
- From the menu, select .
- Then select from the following commands:
- Once you have selected one of the commands, the interop widget located at the bottom of the screen, to the right of the status bar, will appear to indicate that Maya and Mudbox are connected.
NoteIf there is a problem matching an object during the Send to operation, an error message will appear displaying a list of unmatched
objects. This message will go to the log window in Mudbox.
Once your object has been sent to Mudbox, any textures added to a new object will automatically be assigned in Mudbox. However
if you are updating a scene, textures will have to be added manually.
To add texture to an updated scene do the following:
- Select the object you want to add the texture to.
- Right-click on the model and select .
