Change the visibility of a sculpt layer

You can turn on or off the display for a sculpt layer to avoid accidentally modifying that layer or to see how the model appears without the sculpted features on that layer.

  1. Click the solid circular dot icon in the Visible column (below the eye icon) that appears beside the layer you want to turn off.

The dot displays as a hollow circle whenever the layer is not visible.

  2. Click the dot a second time to turn on the visibility for that layer.
NoteIf Mudbox displays a red warning symbol beside the sculpt layer name, it indicates that the sculpt layer is currently locked. This occurs when the current subdivision level doesn’t match the level the sculpt layer was created on. You must use the Page Up or Page Down keys to display the correct subdivision level before the warning symbol disappears and you can sculpt on that layer.
