About online sessions

Online sessions let you share your work with other users on your network.

If you host a session, you control the program as others watch. If you join a session, you can watch as the person hosting the session presents.

To host a session, you must be using Showcase Professional. You can join a session from any version of Showcase.

Host an online session

This feature is only available for Autodesk Showcase Professional.

  1. Select Present > Collaboration Mode > Host Session. The Host Session window appears.

Your machine’s name and port number are already filled in (there is no need to change them).

  2. Optionally type in a session name.
  3. Click Start Hosting.
  4. Tell other participants your machine’s name and port number so that they can log in (it is in the upper right corner of your screen).

When they join the session, their user IDs are momentarily displayed on the host’s screen.

Join a hosted session

  1. Select Present > Collaboration Mode > Join Session.

    The Join Session window appears.

  2. Type in the name and port number of the host machine you want to connect to.

(The person hosting the session needs to provide this information.)

  3. Click Join Session.

Leave a session you have joined

Select Present Collaboration Mode > Leave Session.

End a session you hosted

Select Presentation > Collaboration Mode > Close Session.

If there are other machines still connected to the session, their connections are terminated.
