Workflow for creating and saving Showcase scenes

This topic describes the recommended workflow for creating, adjusting, and saving the foundations of a Showcase scene.

Have your model ready
Showcase works by letting you import an existing 3D model so you can create a scene with it. Ideally the model you use was designed with this in mind. Modeling applications such as Autodesk Inventor, 3ds Max, AutoCAD, and Revit are supported. For interoperability guidelines, see Prepare models for your scene.
Adjust import settings
Select components of your model to import, manage animations and shots, set a default environment, and more; see Adjust import settings
Create a new scene
Create a new scene by importing models. See Import models
Adjust tessellation settings
Once you have imported your model, adjust tessellation and the levels of detail to give your model a professional appearance. See About tessellation and LODs.
Adjust scene settings
Next, adjust scene settings such as navigation speed and units and precision. See Adjust scene settings.
Save your scene
Save your scene and the files that go with it. Showcase provides options for bundling your scene files together for use on another computer or drive. See Save your scene.

What’s next?

Once you have completed the preceding steps and have your basic scene in place, you are ready to add further elements to your scene to create a compelling presentation. See:
