Fields and Values preferences

 
 
 

In the Preferences window, the Fields and Values preferences consist of numeric field default settings, sliders and values default refresh rate settings, the maximum number you can enter into a value field in the FCurves window, and the option to display names to include namespaces.

To access the Fields & Values preferences:

  1. From the menu bar, select Settings > Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window, click the Fields & Values preference option.

The Numeric Field Defaults preference settings let you establish default preferences relating to the display of numeric values. The following table describes the Numeric Field Defaults preference settings.

Numeric Fields Defaults settings Description
Min Number of Digits The Min Number of Digits field lets you specify the length of values displayed in the MotionBuilder interface. The default setting is 3.
Decimal Places The Decimal Places field lets you specify how many decimal place values display in numerical fields. The default setting is 2.

The Sliders and Values default preference setting lets you set a default rate for any sliders and values that appear in MotionBuilder.

The Refresh Priority menu options lets you choose the refresh rate of values set with sliders, for example, the Materials Opacity slider. The following tables describes the Sliders & Values refresh priority preference settings.

Sliders & Values Refresh Priority settings Description
Low To set a slow refresh rate.
Default To set the default refresh rate. The Default is the recommended refresh rate setting for most systems.
High To set a fast refresh rate. A high refresh rate creates a memory demand on the system.

The Transformations preference setting contains the Maximum Edit Value field, which lets you determine the maximum number you can enter into a value field in the FCurves window. The default number is 100000.

The Name preference setting enables you to either choose to display the names with the namespaces or choose to display the names without the namespaces. The default setting is set to display the names with the namespaces.
