Instance geometry on polygon surfaces

Use archive primitives to instance geometry objects, such as plants, trees, flower or rocks to populate landscape scenes. Choose to instance default archives or geometry from Maya scenes, such as Paint Effects objects.

  1. Add archive primitives to geometry surfaces.
  2. Preview the generated primitives.
  3. Control the shape, size, and the number of primitives generated using expressions or sliders controls.
  4. Use PTEX maps to mask out areas you do not want populated with geometry.
  5. Render the hair groom.
