Mirror a sculpt layer on a symmetrical model

An example of a symmetrically posed model is one in which the features and layout of the polygon mesh on one half identically match those on the opposite half.

TipCreate a new layer for your sculpting work when planning to use layer symmetry. You can merge the two layers when you are finished.
  1. Sculpt on one half of the model.
  2. Using the Faces Tool found on the Select/Move Tools tray, indicate which side you want mirrored across the axis of symmetry by selecting some of the faces you want to have mirrored.
  3. In the Layers menu, select Layer > Mirror and select X, Y, or Z to specify the axis you want to mirror across.

The sculpting on the half of the model you selected appears on the opposite side (depending on which axis you selected).
