Using the Search Options

The Search tool performs a full-text search of all the help topics. When you use the Search tool, you can show or hide the options.

When you show the Search options, the default settings produce the same search results as the basic search. This means the search is not case sensitive, excerpts are not shown, and topics are displayed only if all of the search terms are found.

Search Options

If you want your search to be case sensitive, enable the Case Sensitive option.

If you want to include excepts with the search results, enable the Show Excerpts option. For information about excerpts, see Viewing the Search Excerpts.

To perform a boolean OR search, enable the Match Any Phrase option. If a topic contains any of the search terms, it will be included in the search results. The default setting (Match All Phrases) is a boolean AND search.
