Contextual Menus



You can access many of the animation controls while in any Curve or Track Editor by right-clicking and accessing a contextual menu.

You can access items stored in your Pick List.

Navigating the Curve or Track Editor Top

Contextual navigation controls let you perform the following operations:

Select: To:
First Key Move the time cursor to the first keyframe among the selected curves.
Last Key Move the time cursor to the last keyframe among the selected curves.
Next Key Move the time cursor to the next keyframe among the selected curves.
Previous Key Move the time cursor to the previous keyframe among the selected curves.
Next Cue Mark Move the time cursor to the next cue mark.
Previous Cue Mark Move the time cursor to the previous cue mark.

You can navigate through a set of keyframes using the Previous Keyframe and Next Keyframe buttons in the Tool Options located on the left side of the tool UI, Player controls tool bar, or by using the contextual navigation menu in any Curve or Track Editor.

When using the Next Keyframe and Previous Keyframe buttons in the Tool Options, keyframe navigation is restricted to the keyframes set for that particular tool. However, when using the keyframe navigation controls in either the Player controls or Animation tab Property Area, you can navigate through keyframes of all marked tools attached to the dependency graph.

Contextual selection controls let you perform the following selection operations:

Select: To:
Select Next Key Select the next key among the selected curves.
Select Previous Key Select the previous key among the selected curves.
Select All Keys Select all keys in all selected curves.
Select All Curves Select all curves in the animation.
Deselect All Keys Deselect all keys in all selected curves.
Deselect All Curves Deselect all curves in the animation.

A third sub-menu in the animation editor contextual menu allows you to select interactive modal tools.

Applying Animation Functions Top

A fourth sub-menu exposes animation functions when keyframes are selected. Selecting entries in the function menu displays a floating handler with the function attributes. If the selected function doesn't require attributes (like Flip Time or Flip Value), it is executed as soon as it is selected. Available functions are:

Note: The Functions menu is only active when keyframes are selected.

Setting Cue Marks Top

Placing the mouse cursor over the Cue Marks sub-menu exposes several options related to cue marks:

Note: The first two options are always available. The other options are only available when a cue mark is selected. The two navigation options are available when next or previous cue marks are available respectively.

Setting Zoom and Pan Top

Placing the mouse cursor over the View Layout sub-menu displays selections you can use to store up to four zoom and pan settings. This is useful when you want to jump back and forth between different points on an animation curve--see View Layouts.

To set a zoom and pan view:
  1. Zoom and pan to the area of the animation curve you want to set as a view layout.

  2. Right click in the Curve Editor view and select one of the four Set options from the View Layout sub-menu or press Ctrl + F(1,2,3,4).

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to add more layout views (maximum 4).

  4. Press F (1,2,3,4) to activate the view or select Activate from the View Layout sub-menu.

  5. Press Shift + Ctrl + F (1,2,3,4) to delete the layout view or select Delete from the View Layout sub-menu.
