Chapter 21, Animation |
If you prefer to work on your animations in a larger curve or tracks view then you can select Animation from the Task list, or drag a Curve or Track Editor view into a viewport. Both views expose a row of UI buttons and fields that let you see and edit information related to selected curves and keyframes. They can be turned off by swiping through the south Gate and turning Show Properties off. All features found on the Animation Tab's UI are available in a Curve or Track Editor view when combined with the contextual menus with the exception of tangent value editors--see Contextual Menus.

To help simplify large and complex animations, the Curve and Track Editors provide contextual roll-over feedback.
The following list displays the various roll-over feedback and their meanings.
Attribute name highlighting -- When the cursor is positioned over a curve (selected or not), the name of the animated parameter is displayed on the top-right corner of the Curve Editor and a C appears beside the cursor. This tells you what curve you are about to select or what input a particular curve is associated with.

Keyframe values highlighting -- When you position the cursor over a keyframe, the keyframe coordinates are displayed on the top-right corner of the animation viewer, just under the name of the input. When you move a keyframe, the updated value is displayed on the top-right corner of the animation viewer, as well the translation offset from the beginning of the manipulation.

Keyframe feedback -- Rolling over a keyframe in the Curve Editor will evoke different feedback depending on the state of the keyframe.
