When entering a soft effect editor, you can have the background layer processed automatically. Or, you can enter the editor without processing the background layer and use the Preview FX or Context option to preview the result.
You set these processing options in the Module/Soft FX section of the Preferences menu. Enable or disable the Auto Rendering button.
