Keycode contains reference numbers printed on the negative film at regular intervals by the manufacturer. It indicates the manufacturer name and film emulsion type. It identifies each frame by means of frame, footage, and unique reel number. Keycode can be used to track frames of film as it is digitized and moves through the post-production pipeline—including through other Autodesk Visual Effects and Finishing products.
As you edit, the keycode for frames used in your composition can be monitored on clip proxies, in the Player, and in the timeline.
The following illustration shows keycode displayed in the timeline for two segments of a clip.
