Sample color on a model

You can copy (sample) a color from your model (from the current paint layer) to use it as the current color for your paint brush using the Eyedropper.

  1. In the Paint Tools tray, select the Eyedropper tool.

The cursor changes to an eyedropper icon indicating the Eyedropper tool is active.

  2. In the 3D View, position the eyedropper over the color area you want to sample and click using the left button on the mouse/stylus.

The color is sampled and loaded into the color channel for all paint brushes. The next time you paint using the Paint Brush the color you copied is used.

To view the color as you sample it, click the Color box in the Paint Brush properties to display the Color Chooser window.

NoteCopying a color using the Eyedropper does not take into account the lighting and shading on the model.
  3. To keep the Eyedropper tool active until you select another paint or sculpt tool, press the I key as you sample.
