Python examples

import maya.cmds as cmds

# Create a plane.
cmds.polyPlane( n='plg', sx=10, sy=10, h=20, w=20 )

# Collapse one edge,
cmds.polyCollapseEdge( 'plg.e[200]' )

# Or multiple edges:
cmds.select( 'plg.e[74]', 'plg.e[92]', 'plg.e[94:95]' )
# Command works on selection list if
# no command line arguments are given.
cmds.polyCollapseEdge()

# Note that the command works on one edge at a time, so the
# resulting vertex from a selection of multiple edges will
# not typically be in the center of the selection.
