Preparing for the lessons

1. If you have not already done so, download the lesson files from http://www.autodesk.com/maya-tutorials. Copy the Getting Started with Maya 2014 Lesson Files zip file to your local drive and unzip the folder.
2. Select File > Set Project and set the GettingStarted2014LessonData\HumanIK directory as your Maya project. For more information, see Downloading the lesson files and setting the Maya project.
3. Select Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences. Click the Settings category and set the Time option to Film (24 fps) so your animation plays at the rate of 24 frames per second. Click the Save button.
4. Select Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences. Click the Time Slider category and set the Playback speed to Real-time [24fps]. Click the Save button.
5. To ensure the lessons work as described, select the Animation menu set. Unless otherwise noted, the procedures in this chapter assume the Animation menu set is selected.
6. Open the Plug-in Manager (Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager) and make sure the mayaHIK plug-in is loaded.
