To ensure the lessons work as described, do these steps before beginning: 
         
         
            - If you have not already done so, download the lesson files from http://www.autodesk.com/maya-tutorials. Copy the Getting Started with Maya 2014 Lesson Files zip file to your local drive and unzip the folder. 
            
- Create a new project as follows: 
                  - Select and click the  button. 
                  
- Click the folder icon in the  field to navigate to the GettingStarted2014LessonData folder so that the project you create will be saved within this folder. 
                  
- Enter Expressions under .

 At this playback speed and frame range, the animation results of the expressions you’ll create in the lessons will be easier
                  to examine and understand. 
                
- With the pointer in the perspective view, press 5 (for ). It’s easier to see the expression effects on shaded objects than wireframe objects in the following lessons.
