Projects let you keep a part of their preferences separate, so you can break down your work into many sub-tasks. For example, you can have one project for each special-effects shot in a film. This way, you can specify render directories that differ from one shot to the other, without re-entering them each time you create a composition within the shot.
Project management is disabled in Composite by default, but you can activate it in the User Preferences (Edit>User Preferences). In the General tab, activate the Project Selection Dialog setting and click OK or Apply. The project selection is active the next time you start the application.
When project management is disabled, Composite uses a default project file that is called Default.txproject. You can view the file location in the Edit > Project Preferences > Information tab (Edit> Project Preferences > Information tab).
A project can be any size, depending on your facility's needs or individual projects. It may be a complete film, a special effects shot, an image sequence, or any other collection of shots/images. No matter the size, a project is a set of folders and a set of preferences.
These examples let you perform administrative and project management tasks in Composite.
