component video

A video signal format commonly used in the broadcast industry because of its high quality.

In component video, each color component (red, green, and blue) is carried over a separate video cable. The sync signal is carried on a fourth cable, or is included with the green signal (known as sync-on-green, not readable on many pieces of video equipment).
