Before
you can create the FBIK effectors for your biped character, you
first need to make sure that your character is in a pose that will
produce the best FBIK results.
For a biped, your
character should be in a “T” pose known as the T-stance and
should be facing down the +Z-axis. Also, your character’s feet should
be straight, its hands should be flat with palms facing downward,
and its thumbs should be pointing down the +X-axis. You character’s
pose does not need to be an exact T-stance, but it should be a close
approximation.
For a quadruped, your character
should be facing down the +Z-axis and its paws/hooves should not
be flat on the ground but should be pointing downwards with all
their toes fully-extended towards the floor. Also, if your character
has a longer neck (like that of a camel or giraffe), its neck needs
to be extended (for example, like it is reaching for a leaf) and
pointing down the +Z-axis.
