Duplicating objects across an axis of symmetry
Lesson 1: Assigning a fur description
Assigning objects to a reference layer
Renaming surfaces on a model
After duplicating the surfaces you need to
rename the duplicated surfaces so you can easily identify and select
them by name when required.
The surfaces you duplicated were originally
named using the naming convention leftArm, leftArmpaw, leftLeg,
and leftLegpaw. When you duplicate objects, Maya assigns names to
the new objects automatically. Change the names of the duplicated
surfaces to match the naming convention used for the model.
To
rename objects
- For
each of the surfaces listed in the following table, do the following:
- Click
the object in the scene view.
- In
the Channel Box, click the object
name to select it. You can display the Channel Box by
clicking Show/Hide Channel Box/Layer Editor button
on the Status Line.
- Type
the corresponding new name from the table and press .
