When on, clips move or ripple to make room for other clips. For example, if you move a clip to a new location in a track, all the other clips in the track will shift their positions in the track to make room for the clip. When off, clips that are added or moved are appended by other clips in the track. For example, if you add a clip to a place in a track that is only 30 frames wide, and the new clip is 40 frames long, then 10 frames from the end of the new clip are automatically trimmed from the clip to fit it in the available space.
