Visual curves-on-surface can now be picked independently from geometry curves-on-surface through the new Pick > Object Types > Curve on Surface option box.

Put check marks in the box or boxes that correspond to the type of curves-on-surface you want to pick. Both are checked by default.

Visual curves-on-surface are produced by tools such as Cross Section Editor, Parting Line, Highlights, and so on.
